September 30: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
On September 30, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we reaffirm the importance of listening to the stories of Indigenous women, recognizing their strengths, and supporting their rights.
At the Women’s Centre of Montréal, this also means providing practical services and support, including counselling, food assistance, collective cooking, and cultural activities.
Today, Destiny Levesque shares a glimpse of her experience at the Centre:
“The counsellors who helped me truly went above and beyond my expectations to meet all my needs. When I was experiencing homelessness, they helped me navigate the housing process and find the essential items I needed. [...] I find the Women’s Centre of Montréal to be a very welcoming and safe place for women from all walks of life.”
Destiny’s story also reminds us of the importance of providing spaces and services where every woman can feel welcome, supported, and safe.
