Preparing for the festivities in high spirits

This event is the fruit of several months of teamwork. Initially organized by a committee made up of a few of the Center's employees, to be joined by the entire staff who pitched in to make this unforgettable day.

An exhibition, activities and workshops for women and toddlers

A photographic exhibition tracing the Centre's history from its earliest days, and moving testimonials from employees, volunteers and participants were presented in the auditorium.

The event also featured a number of activities and workshops:

  • wellness stations developed by psychosocial services
  • an introductory workshop on traditional First Nations beadwork
  • two Employability Service workshops on self-confidence and the reality of non-traditional employment sectors
  • several fun activities for toddlers organized by La Cigognerie.

An emotional celebration

Guests then gathered in the auditorium for the highlight of the day: the celebration of the Centre's 50th anniversary.

A quiz on the history of the Centre got the ceremony off to a lively and energetic start.

Johanne Bélisle, Executive Director of the Centre for nearly 30 years, and Joëlle Thibault, President of the Board of Directors, each delivered inspiring speeches.

An Indigenous participant performed a traditional song, a most moving moment for those present.

To close this beautiful ceremony, the candles were blown out and the delicious cakes were enjoyed.

The Center's 50th birthday was a festive and inspiring moment, bringing together women of all ages and backgrounds. After 50 years of existence, the Centre looks forward to continuing its mission for many years to come: Helping women to help themselves, with the aim of supporting the women of our community in their quest for autonomy and success. Together with our community partners, we continue the feminist struggle, proud of our gains, but aware that many challenges remain, and that great vigilance is required. Let's continue to work together!
